VA Sales Tax Holiday
August 5, 2009
Virginia’s School Supplies and Clothing Sales Tax Holiday is coming up this weekend. Not to be confused with the Hurricane Preparedness Sales Tax Holiday in the spring or the Energy Star and WaterSense Qualified Products Sales Tax Holiday coming later this fall. The justification of for this Sales Tax Holiday is to allow families to save money on Back-to-School items. Also items must be under $100. With that in mind, here is a selected list of items exempt:
- Clerical Vestments
- Costumes (sold not rented)
- Fur coats and stoles, shawls and wraps
- Wedding apparel, including veils (sold not rented)
- Belts and Suspenders
- Suspenders (Listed twice. Apparently the Larry King Lobby is strong in VA)
For a full list.
