The Tax Foundation’s 76th Annual Dinner

December 4, 2013

Two weeks ago, the Tax Foundation celebrated its 76th year with our most successful annual dinner to date!

Tax Foundation President Scott Hodge noted, “2013 has been the busiest year in my 13 years at the Tax Foundation, and our annual dinner was bigger and better than ever.”

This year, we had over 400 attendees, and both Senator Max Baucus (D-MT) and Orrin Hatch (R-UT) received our 2013 Distinguished Service Awards.

In his speech, Senator Hatch spoke of the important contribution the Tax Foundation has made to tax reform efforts:

“I have followed [the Tax Foundation’s] work for a long time, and I have to say, without this group, I don’t think we’d have nearly as good of a situation as we might have, and with this group we can improve the situation in this country and this tax code a lot better than we have in the past.”

Senator Baucus championed bi-partisan efforts in congress and spoke on how important tax reform is to him and to the country:

“I’ve got a long list of things to work on, and tax reform is number one, number two, and number three on the list. We are going to get tax reform passed. […]Tax reform is too important to delay. I believe very strongly that we have such an opportunity and such an obligation to pass tax reform now.”

Additionally, the Tax Foundation’s Board of Directors presented the new Exemplar of Excellence in Distinguish Public Service award for the first time to Russell Sullivan.
