Coverage of Oregon Beer Tax Proposal
February 23, 2009
We’re getting quite a few hits lately about our coverage of an Oregon legislator’s proposal to hike his state’s beer tax by 1,800% and make it by far the highest in the country. (And a similar proposal in Idaho.) Our beer tax map has had some 4,000 hits in the past few days.
Karen Datko of MSN Money linked back to us and predicts that the tax is going nowhere. She also provides a link to the Beer Institute’s beer consumption by state table. Jacob Grier also points out that Oregon having both a low beer tax and successful brewery industry is no coincidence.
