New Census Housing Data Shows Where Property Taxes on Homeowners Are Highest

This morning, the TaxA tax is a mandatory payment or charge collected by local, state, and national governments from individuals or businesses to cover the costs of general government services, goods, and activities. Foundated updated the popular property taxes on owner-occupied housing tables by state and county for 2006. Here is a glimpse of the top 10 counties by two measures: (1) median real estate taxes paid (dollar value) and (2) median real estate taxes as a percentage of median home value. Once again, New Jersey and New York dominate the lists.
