October 1, 2018

The Tax Foundation is pleased to announce that Mark Weinberger, Global Chairman and CEO of EY, is the recipient of its 2018 Distinguished Service Award. He will accept the award and deliver the keynote speech at the Tax Foundation’s 81st Annual Dinner on November 15.

As EY Global Chairman and CEO, Weinberger leads one of the largest professional services organizations in the world, overseeing the operations of more than 260,000 people in more than 150 countries. Prior to being elected Global Chairman and CEO, he served as EY’s Global Vice Chair-Tax and Americas Vice Chair-Tax.

Among his many accomplishments, Weinberger served as U.S. Assistant Treasury Secretary (Tax Policy) in the George W. Bush administration, on multiple advisory panels under President Bill Clinton, and worked in the U.S. Senate. He currently is on the Board of Directors of the Business Roundtable, and chairs its Tax and Fiscal Policy Committee.

The award will be presented during the Tax Foundation’s 81st Anniversary Dinner and Gala on Thursday, November 15, 2018, at the National Building Museum in Washington, D.C.

“Throughout his career in and outside of government, Mark Weinberger has been one of the policy community’s leading voices on making America’s tax code more competitive and more pro-growth,” said Tax Foundation President Scott Hodge. “The enactment of last year’s Tax Cuts and Jobs Act went a long way to helping on both fronts, and his input provided a crucial foundation for making the new law possible.”

Previous recipients of Tax Foundation awards have included: Presidents Dwight Eisenhower and George W. Bush; Vice President Mike Pence; William Simon; Paul Volcker; Senator Daniel Patrick Moynihan; Senator Robert Kerrey; Representative Bill Archer; Eric Solomon; Senator Max Baucus; Senator Orrin Hatch; Senator Connie Mack; Senator John Breaux; and Representative Dave Camp.
