From the Boston Herald: A ballot question that would reduce the state’s sales tax to 3 percent has passed its first hurdle. The Alliance to Roll Back Taxes filed nearly 76,000 certified voter signatures with Secretary of State William Galvin. “Today we filed a bullet-proof, challenge-proof number of signatures for our ballot initiative to roll back the sales tax from 6.25 percent to 3 percent,” said Carla Howell, chairwoman of the Alliance to Roll Back Taxes, in a statement. Massachusetts raised its sales tax this year from 5% to 6.25%, leading to significant cross-border shopping activity. More on Massachusetts here.
