New Podcast: Tax Foundation Expert on Hospital Taxes
December 16, 2009
The Tax Foundation recently released a new Fiscal Fact examining an increasingly popular tax among states: taxes on hospitals and health care providers. Twenty-two states have significant taxes on hospitals or medical providers, six of which were enacted or expanded in the last year, and another four enactments or expansions are pending.
In this week’s Tax Policy Podcast, Tax Foundation State Policy Analyst Justin Higginbottom discusses why these problematic taxes are popular among states and why some health care providers support them. Justin authored Tax Foundation Fiscal Fact No. 203, “State Hospital and Medical Provider Taxes: Not What the Doctor Should Order.”
