New Podcast with the National Taxpayer Advocate February 4, 2011 Richard Morrison Richard Morrison This week I was lucky enough to score an interview with Nina Olson, the federal government’s National Taxpayer Advocate. As head of the Taxpayer Advocate Service, Ms. Olson oversees over 2,000 employees in all 50 states. Their goal is to help taxpayers who are having problems with the Internal Revenue Service navigate the agency’s procedures and bureaucracy and to be the voice of the taxpayer within the federal government. This video gives a quick explanation of the kind of problems they solve: In this week’s podcast we discuss the origins of the Advocate’s office and Ms. Olson’s most recent report to Congress, “The Time for Tax Reform Is Now.” More on compliance costs and tax complexity here.
