New Podcast: Anthony Randazzo on the Mortgage Interest Deduction
July 21, 2011
This week on the Tax Policy Podcast, Anthony Randazzo of the Reason Foundation explains the alleged virtues and demonstrated drawbacks to maintaining the mortgage interest deduction. In advance of the release of a major new paper on the topic, Anthony gives listeners a sneak peek at what Reason’s new research has turned up on the real economic effects of the “MID”.
If you’re going to be in Washington next week, you might want to stop by the Urban Institute, which will be co-hosting, along with the Reason Foundation, a policy forum titled “Rethinking the Mortgage Interest Deduction.” The event will reature Urban’s own Eric Toder, Dean Stansel, Reason Foundation Adjunct Fellow, Seth Hanlon of the Center for American Progress, and (in the interest of a balanced discussion) Lawrence Yun, Chief Economist and Director of Research at the National Association of REALTORS®.
