As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, we depend on the generosity of individuals like you. Help us continue our work by making a tax-deductible gift today.
The Tax Foundation is the nation’s leading independent tax policy nonprofit. Since 1937, our principled research, insightful analysis, and engaged experts have informed smarter tax policy at the federal, state, and global levels. For over 80 years, our goal has remained the same: to improve lives through tax policies that lead to greater economic growth and opportunity.
Our work is meaningless if it is unread or unrespected. At Tax Foundation, the Editor is crucial for ensuring our work is accessible, engaging to all our core audiences, and written with the highest possible standard for accuracy and consistency.
The role of the Editor is vital to the Marketing and Communications team as well as the entire organization. TF has several annual publications that are widely read by key decision-makers and cited regularly in top-tier news sites that require meticulous editing of changes in rankings and data, such as Facts & Figures, the State Business Tax Climate Index, and the International Tax Competitiveness Index.
The primary responsibility of this position will be the fulcrum between the work of our policy experts and development (fundraising) teams and honing and tailoring their research and analysis for the various audiences we serve: policymakers, the media, and the general public. This role is the central resource for the staff to bounce questions of grammar and tone and anything related to writing.
We’re a nonpartisan, nonprofit think tank founded in 1937 and located steps from the White House in Washington, D.C. We regularly work with policymakers on both sides of the aisle to help fix problems in national and state tax codes and by focusing on effective policies instead of politics, we have curated a reputation as one of the most effective policy think tanks in the nation.
We use our research and analysis to bring tax changes to the national spotlight, foster competition among the states, and advise policymakers on how to improve their tax systems.
Our work is cited in over 20,000 news articles each year, including the largest national outlets and the papers of record in all fifty states. We produce over 70 major publications every year and our website is viewed over 1.5 million per month.
