March 24, 2010

Westside, IA (pop. 327) and Leighton, IA (pop. 153) win top honors for Census participation so far, with 74% of residents already having sent in their responses. This is far above the average national participation rate of 16%; the top five states in participation so far are Montana, South Dakota, North Dakota, Wyoming, and Nebraska.

A nifty Google-Census collaboration allows you to see Census participation rates for states and counties, updated daily. Check it out here.
