Tax Foundation Presents Seal to Five States for State Tax Information Transparency
Today we presented our 2013 Commitment to State Tax Information Transparency seal to officials in Colorado, Illinois, Pennsylvania, Utah, and Virginia. We surveyed websites run by state tax departments in spring 2013 to find out how many had posted six vital pieces of information for taxpayers:
- Income tax rates for the current tax year (2013) and the tax year currently being filed (2012)
- Income tax tables for the current tax year (2013) and the tax year currently being filed (2012)
- Income tax forms for the current tax year (2013) and the tax year currently being filed (2012)
Most states did not make all of these things available on their website, so we are pleased to honor the five states that did. We hope that our 2014 seal will go to many more states!
