Something to Think about on Thanksgiving

1 min readBy: Alicia Hansen

We all love to complain about taxA tax is a mandatory payment or charge collected by local, state, and national governments from individuals or businesses to cover the costs of general government services, goods, and activities. es (and for good reason), but in the spirit of Thanksgiving, we would like to suggest a different way of thinking about taxes—just for one day, that is.

We’ll defer to two writers who said it better than we could:

♦ “A person doesn’t know how much he has to be thankful for until he has to pay taxes on it.”
— Author Unknown

♦ “The only thing that hurts more than paying an income tax is not having to pay an income tax.”
— Lord Thomas Robert Dewar

The complaining will recommence the day after Thanksgiving.
